Why I Continue To Fight

A post from Dragonfly at the LotS forum

Why I Continue to Fight

I went into a comic book store today and as I browsed the shelves I found myself becoming increasingly angry. Legend of the Seeker should be a comic on those shelves. (Wouldn’t that be awesome?) Merchandise should be sold in the stores. (Where are our action figures?) The series should never have left the air. We should be watching the show we adore. Instead we must accept that it’s locked in a ‘vault’ while a certain entertainment group hopes we forget all about it.

I’m not ready to forget all about it. I know that I’m not the only one still troubled by the fact that a show with so much potential, a show so rich and fertile as Legend of the Seeker has been shut down and ignored.

Yes, this is just a TV show. I’m well aware that it’s not real and I’ll probably never meet any of the cast or crew. However, all of us must, in some way, identify with Legend of the Seeker or we never would have launched such a massive campaign to save it. We all seem to recognize that it holds it’s head above most of the other tripe on television today. We must now convince a network of that as well.

There are quite a few people who professed a commitment to save this show who no longer post on the forum. I can only hope that you’re still here and fighting for the show. While everyone understands that real life and family will always come before any of this, I invite you to please come back and leave a post to let us know you’re still here. I know that even my resolve falters at times, but I feel better after I chat (ramble, blab, blow off steam) with a few of my forum buds.

All the community of this forum, be they long time members or fans who only signed up yesterday, will be the ones who will save this show. It is through donations, our mailing campaign and our continuous efforts of contacting various networks that this will be accomplished. We must not slow down. Please realize that every single letter is important. Yes, your one letter makes a difference. Please make every effort to get those letters and postcards in the mail. We must stay the course.

Together we make one voice and if our voice is loud enough and continues long enough, we will be heard.

Operation send it back is on!

A reminder of what we plan to do:

1.) If you have not bought season 2, have an autographed copy or don't want to part with yours...then buy another one

2.) Take your outer box cover and "alter" it. In other words, tape, scratch out, etc the "and final" on the front. Show your frustrations, but DO NOT be a jerk. No nasty language, anything obscene or offensive. That will not have the desired effect and will make the rest of us look bad. Don't do it. Below are some examples (thanks to Aci!) - these can also be used instead of an actual box if you have an autographed copy or don't have season 2 yet (I refer you back to number 1...BUY IT).

3.) Include a picture of yourself with a Save our Seeker sign or some other way to designate you as a fan and/or a letter to Disney (Pictures are best). Stuff the box full of postcards ( When You Wish Upon a Star thread), letters, the printed box covers below...whatever. BUT PLEASE...do not send anything else. We want to be consistent.

4.) Send it to Disney/ABC. They should receive these November 10-12th. So plan your mailing accordingly!

The addresses:

Paul Lee
Disney-ABC Television Group
500 S. Buena Vista St.
Burbank, CA 91521

Janice Marinelli
Disney-ABC Television Group
500 S. Buena Vista St.
Burbank, CA 91521

Anne Sweeney
Disney/ABC Domestic Television
500 S. Buena Vista St.
Burbank, CA 91521

Some examples:

Let's get going and send those words back to them! All none US folks should start sending theirs back now so that they have a good chance of arriving at the same time.

We need as many people as possible to take part, to make the biggest impact.

New campaign idea

This one is a direct response to 'that' wording on the Season 2 DVD cover. You know the one I'm talking about.

Here's the basic idea:

1.) If you have not bought season 2, have an autographed copy or don't want to part with yours...then buy another one

2.) Take your outer box cover and "alter" it. In other words, tape, scratch out, etc the "and final" on the front. Show your frustrations, but DO NOT be a jerk.

Keep Huluing!

From Captain Zimmer on the LotS forum:

C'mon guys, keep watching LoTS on Hulu! For the first couple of weeks, it was always on page 2 or page 3 of the "most popular" shows tab; now it fell to the 6th page! Keep it running on the background, because Hulu accounts for individual hits on the site. Don't forget, it's free to watch, the 3 networks (including ABC) that own it are aware of how popular shows are AND sponsors are paying so people can enjoy the service! Some of them might want to make sponsorship deals if and when the show gets picked up for network broadcasting!

He's right!
Hulu is one of the easiest ways to show how popular the show is. Ans the key word here is free
It doesn't cost anything to watch it. You can keep it on in the background and it will still count.
The only downside is that it's only available in the US so us international folks can't participate. But I urge every fan in the US to put their Hulu on and drive our show back up to the top!

Interest from DirecTV?

We have had tweets from Directv before, telling us to contact their 101 network. Now there has been a new response from their customer service team.

Visionhale on the LotS forums reports that a fan received this response:

"Thank you for writing. I understand how important the show Legend of the Seeker is for you. Be assured that your feedback is important to us. I have forwarded your email to DIRECTV's Management Team, who review every suggestion and comment for trends from our most important customers to determine what changes should be considered.

Sincerely, Arlyne A. --
DIRECTV Customer Service "

Now it's nothing major but it is positive so it's worth a shot! The response was after a request sent using the form here
It takes about a minute to fill in so it's something that everyone can do. Come on folks, get submitting, let's Save Our Seeker!

A little bit of good news

Ok, it's not great news but it does give a little glimmer of hope to flagging spirits.

The snarky and unwelcome article at tv by numbers titled 'Syfy Not Saving ‘Legend of the Seeker;’ Looking Doubtful Anyone Else Will Either' has had fans feeling downhearted since it was published.

Well, angryfantasyfan dug out another article by the same author from a few months ago with this title 'When Pigs Fly: Will DirectTV Save “Damages?” '

He seemed pretty darn sure that no way in hell was DirecTV going to pick up Damages. And yet, just a few months later, he had to eat his words. Why? Because DirecTV announced that it was indeed picking up the show!

So to all fans out there feeling dispirited because of his article, fear not! It means nothing. Keep those letters flowing and we will see who wins in the end.
