Heartbreaking moments

From the episode 'Desecrated' in Season 2, this scene was particularly poignant. Seeing the two women fight over who gets to sacrifice themselves for the other? Sweet yet, awful, and very moving. Wouldn't we all offer to die to save a friend?

Heartbreaking moments

How much do you feel for them, as Richard begs Kahlan to free him from Danna by confessing him, while Kahlan pleads for him to be strong enough. Gut wrenching.

Heartbreaking moments

I wanted to cry in this episode. Again. This shot of Kahlan's anguish at the destruction of the Forest of the Nightwisps really sums it up.

Heartbreaking moments

Season 1 episode 'Sacrifice' has plenty of heartbreaking moments. Today I chose the scene where Kahlan finds Dennee is a D'Haran prison:

Call me emotional but scenes like this always make me well up. I find it easy to empathise with a character and Kahlan has such a big heart that it's almost impossible not to imagine how she feels.
She thought her sister dead and gone, only to realise she must be alive when her mate is discovered still confessed.
And to find her eventually imprisoned and pregnant...well, imagine how you would feel.

A true heartbreaking moment

Heartbreaking moments

The death of anyone is a sad moment, the death of a child even more so.
Richard coming across the graves of the children slain by Darken Rahl is a true heartbreaking moment. I don't know how anyone could not get a little teary eyed at this scene.

Heartbreaking moments

TIme for another heartbreaking moment I think. The sacrifice of Shar. This one needs a bit of a montage to show it's full effect:

My heart jumped when the brave nightwisp jumped up and sacrificed herself to save Richard from the arrow.

Her light that once shone so brightly is almost extinguished. This shot made my heartbreak. To give that kind of sacrifice must have taken so much courage and we have to see her fade.

But the tears really flowed when Kahlan says a prayer and sets her tiny form adrift on the river.
'May the spirits light your way through the land of the shadow, to the halls of eternal peace'
Sob.

Goodbye brave Shar, we'll remember you always.
I'm actually tearing up as I write this. A truly heartbreaking moment.

Heartbreaking moments

Heartbreaking moment #2. You can't help but feel sorry for Richard in the first episode of LotS.
Not only does he get beaten up by a bunch of D'Harans and then have a knife to his throat by Kahlan but then he gets bitten by a poisonous plant, sent to see a man he thinks is crazy, nearly dies and is then told he is the Seeker and is destined to kill someone. That would be enough for anyone to deal with.
He takes off home, back to the one man who has always been there for him, whose identity is now called into question. Only to find him stabbed.

How heartbreaking for Richard to deal with all that then come home to find his father fatally stabbed. I felt so sorry for him, cradling his dying father in his arms.

Legend of the Seeker does a great job at showing real human emotion and pulling at the heartstrings. This is why we love it so and why we will fight to save it!

Heartbreaking moments

Legend of the Seeker gives us the whole range of emotions - from fear, hatred, love, joy, excitement and amazement.
But the heartbreaking moments are one of the things really pulls us and makes us love this show more than any other.

Moment #1

We get our first heartbreaking moment just minutes into the first episode. During Kahlan and Dennee's desperate chase through the forest, Dennee is shot by an arrow. She makes it through the trees but tumbles into the water when they reach the river.
The sight of her lying in the shallows covered in mud, obviously in pain but still imploring Kahlan to leave her and continue their mission is enough to have anyone tearing up. Then it's heightened even more by Kahlan, with her voice breaking, kissing her sister's forehead and asking the spirits to protect her.

I think it was that moment I knew I was going to like this show.

What do you think, was this a heartbreaking moment for you? Or did it not bring a tear to your eye?
