Fanvid - Save Our Seeker

I know you've all seen this before it's I love it so much I just had to show it again. It's a great video that gets the blood pumping and I don't know about you but it shoots my motivation up sky high.
With all the brilliant campaigns going at the moment that have so much potential to get us what we went, getting everyone motivated to do them can only be a good thing!

Thanks to Mytubeproductions for the video.

Reason we fight - Kahlan and Cara

Because we need more bonding moments!

Hulu viewing

For all of you who like to watch online and live in the US, Hulu now has the whole first season available to watch.

Viewing figures for Hulu count so it's a good way to boost the ratings, and of course, it's free!

There is also an extra benefit to watching via Hulu - the company is part owned by Disney so they will get to see how many of you are watching. Even if you just click and leave it on without watching it will still count.

Remember, the goal is to get another season. It doesn't matter if you don't feel like watching, you can go off and do something else - the important thing is viewing numbers. If we can show enough numbers we have a better shot at being heard and getting what we want.

Now is really our chance for a big puch - big numbers viewing on Hulu, re-runs ratings and big sales of the DVD can really make a difference. Let's do whatever we can to bring back the show we love.

Shameless plug

Ok, so this isn't exactly Seeker related but it's my blog so I'll do what I want to!

I run a charity venture where I persuade celebrities to donate items that I then auction off to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research.
It's a cause that is close to my heart since I suffer from the disease myself and it's also one that is rarely talked about and very under publicised.

I have just started out and the first auction went live today. The item? A stunning, 8 x 10 photograph signed by Katrina Law!

I have several of them that I will be auctioning off, one by one. They are all beautiful and they would make a great addition to any fan collection.

This is the one that is up for auction today:

Isn't it fabulous? My camera simply cannot do it justice.

All prices start at just 99p and I will ship to anywhere in the world. So please bid and help a fellow Seeker out. And more importantly, help a cause that desperately needs it.

And in case you were wondering, yes I will be trying to persuade the rest of the Seeker cast to donate!

Link to the ebay site is here
If you want to find out more about my charity venture, visit the website here

New campaign idea - when you wish upon a star

New campaign idea from the creative peeps on the LotS forums. This one is quite emotional and I think, very apt.

"When You Wish Upon a Star..."
Hello everyone! From everything we've seen, it has become apparent that Disney is no longer interested in producing Legend of the Seeker. It also seems that maybe they just want to shut it away in that big old Disney vault of theirs and forget all about it. I'm sure that they would like for us to just shut up and go away as well.

I don't think so.

Starting RIGHT NOW, we're asking everyone to send in a postcard of a star or stars with the phrase "When You Wish Upon a Star..." Nothing else should be on the front of the postcard. The message on the back should simply ask Disney to sell the production rights of Legend of the Seeker to another network. Examples will follow.

Here's the kicker and we really need all of you for this to work. Please send AS MANY AS POSSIBLE EVERY DAY to Disney. If you can only send one, then please do that. Every postcard is important. If you can send 10 or more, even better. If you don't want to make your own there will be plenty to chose from on this thread. If you've never mailed before, let this be the time your start.

Mailing Dates: Starts RIGHT NOW for everyone, overseas and in the US. Oct 9th is the end date, although we might extend it."

With the DVD drive hopefully making big sales, this is a great time to give Disney another push. And it reminds them that we are not going away. Despite what the sleeve of the S2 DVD says, WE WILL NOT GIVE UP, AND WE WILL NOT GO AWAY.

So please Seekers, I urge you to send as many postcards as you can. No amount is too small. If you can only send one, that is enough. If you can send more, great.
The important thing is that we ALL join in and do this.

Here are a couple of examples:

The Disney addresses:

Anne Sweeney
Disney-ABC Television Group
500 S. Buena Vista St.
Burbank, CA 91521

Paul Lee

Please send a card and help to Save Our Seeker

This weeks JBC campaign - Stock the Shelves

Because of the release of the Season 2 DVD - at long last! - this week's JBC campaign will be a repeat of the previous Stock the Shelves. They are asking that, instead of contacting TV stations, you instead contact your local library and retail stores requesting that they carry LotS.

"As history shows, DVD sales can be quite effective when it comes to the revival of a canceled TV series. Family Guy, Futurama, and several other shows were saved mainly due to high DVD sells, and I'm not the only one who thinks they can be helpful to our cause.

With this in mind, the JBC supported the DVD drive a few months back with the first Stock the Shelves Week. This week, with the release of the Season 2 DVD, it is time for Stock The Shelves Week 2.

Information

Instead of contacting TV stations, this week you will be contacting your local Library and major retailers in your area to request that they stock the Legend of the Seeker Season 1 & 2 DVDs. Our goal is not only to drive up LotS DVD sales, showing the suits that there is profit to be made, but to widen the fanbase and build our numbers.

Unfortunately most international fan will not be able to participate in this week's JBC, so we're asking all those who can't to redo last week's JBC. Fans living in Germany and France are able to participate. Anyone else who wishes to continue with the regular JBC as well may also redo last week, but we ask that you participate this week as well since this is a very important campaign.

Contact Information

Since we can't provide everyone a link to their local Library's website, we ask that once this week you take the time to Google "*Your Town and State* Public Library" and find the contact information on their website. If you're lucky, you'll find email information, and/or a contact form. If not, you'll have to call them to make the request. The number should be located on the website, if not try a phonebook or look on Google. You may do the same for any major retailers located near you.

Example Blurb

I'd like to suggest the purchase of Season 2 DVDs of "Legend of the Seeker".
[I'd like to suggest the purchase of Season 1 and Season 2 DVDs of "Legend of the Seeker" -
if they don't have S1]

"Legend of the Seeker" is produced by Disney-ABC and is loosely based on the
best selling series "The Sword of Truth" by Terry Goodkind. Starring Craig Horner,
Bridget Regan, Tabrett Bethell, Bruce Spence and Craig Parker, and filmed against
the backdrop of beautiful New Zealand, the series is a high quality production as many
cast & crew were part of the production of "Lord of the Rings."

'Legend of the Seeker' is an Emmy Award Winner for “Outstanding Music Composition
for a TV Series” (2009), and has Emmy Nomination for “Outstanding Main Title Theme
Music” (2010).

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Best regards,"

This drive runs in conjunction with our plea for everyone to buy the DVD, however and from whereever, they can.
Remember, big enough DVD sales is a huge factor in helping us to get another season and this is what we are fighting for!

Us international fans, with the exception of France and Germany the lucky devils, may not be able to participate but we can buy the DVD for ourselves and our families.
So let's work together to get those DVD sales as high as we possibly can and help to Save Our Seeker!

DVD drive

There have been a few articles recently about the possiblity of big sales for the season 2 DVD meaning more chance of a third season.

TVovermind wrote this this article:

I just wouldn’t have guessed it, but Legend of the Seeker has a huge amount of fans. Either that, or a small amount of very vocal ones. In any case, the show (which airs only in syndication) is still gathering fans, despite the fact that it was cancelled after its second season earlier this year. Outrage could be heard across the internet as the aforementioned fans headed up “Save Our Seeker” campaigns in order to revive the series based on Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth novels. While there has been no sign of progress on this front, fans of the fantasy series have perhaps their best chance of redemption coming up next Tuesday, when the second season hits DVD.

The two press releases from Xenite also state this as a possibility.

For some people, this seems an unlikely outcome but I would urge them not to write it off.
There are precedents of shows being bought back by unexpectedly large DVD sales:

Fox picked Family Guy back up.
Futurama has new episodes on Comedy Central,
Firefly had a feature film made in the form of Serenity

So it can be done. Remember, what matters to the TV execs is not passion, it's not taste, it's not even huge numbers of fans. It's money. Money is what speaks, the only thing that speaks.
So if we can get big sales for the S2 DVD it will put dollar signs flashing before their eyes.
We know they are noticing our campaign. We're doing everything we can to show them there is money to be made with Seeker. Now is the time we can show them.
So buy that S2 DVD for yourselves, for your friends, for your family. Remember, Christmas isn't all that far away and it would make a great present. Who wouldn't want to wake up on Christmas morning and find LotS in their stocking?

It doesn't matter where you buy it from, whether it's online or in a shop - although remember that purchases made through SaveOurSeeker.com means a percentage will go to the SOS campaign - all that matters is that you buy it. It doesn't even matter if it's a region that your DVD player won't recognise. The only thing that matters is that we buy enough to make them sit up and see those dollar signs. You can always use a code to unlock your DVD player. And the chance of getting a third season is worth it.

Let's take this chance to show those tv execs that we were right, that Seeker is a money maker. Get buying!

Another press release from Xenite

Michael Martinez has been busy today. His Operation LotS More has issued another press release, this time on i-newsire.com

Despite the cancellation of Legend of the Seeker, fan groups are still calling for viewer support of the show in hope of inspiring a third season or feature film. The newest initiative calls for fans to promote a new category in the People's Choice Awards and to help build sales of the 2nd season's DvD and Blu-Ray sets.

Fansite SaveOurSeeker.com is asking people to help nominate a new category -- "Favorite TV Fantasy Hero" -- in the People's Choice Awards. The PCA called for nominations on its Website (http://www.peopleschoice.com/pca/categories/vote.jsp). Fan campaign announcements and instructions for coordinated voting have been published on science fiction blogs and forums, including forums.legendoftheseeker.org.

At the same time, Legend of the Seeker fan groups are planning to increase awareness of, and viewership for the show through promoting DvD and Blu-Ray sales. Ideas including setting up viewing parties at scifi conventions, local churches, community centers, libraries, schools, and colleges. Where possible, fans will introduce their friends to the show and encourage them to buy the DvDs from their favorite online retailers

Thanks Michael, we Seekers really appreciate your help and expertise.

Thanks to Whordy for the video

The fifth and final installment of Pass It On!

I'll be quite sad to see them go :(
Thanks to the LOTSVideo team for all their hard work and to the many fans who took part - you rock!

New Xenite press release

Thanks to Operation LotsMore and Michael Martinez there is a new press release on OpenPR.com:

Legend of the Seeker Fans Rally Around People's Choice Awards and DvD Sales to Save Their Show

(openPR) - Seattle, WA -- Not yet finished showing support for the cancelled syndicated TV series Legend of the Seeker, fans are organizing an online voting campaign to nominate a "Favorite TV Fantasy Hero" category for the People's Choice Awards and at the same time are mobilizing to drive up sales of the 2nd season DvDs and Blu-Ray. Legend of the Seeker failed to win a third season due to the loss of approximately 1/3 of its North American viewing audience when the Tribune Station Group dropped the show in March.

Having raised almost $30,000 in a few months to show fan support for the show in trade publications, fansite SaveOurSeeker.com is now asking fans to collectively propose and vote for a new category in the People's Choice Awards. Now accepting public submissions for a new category (www.peopleschoice.com/pca/categories/vote.jsp), the People's Choice Awards represents a new opportunity to increase visibility and viewership for Legend of the Seeker. Seeker fans intend to leave their mark on the awards by proposing the "Favorite TV Fantasy Hero" category.

But recognizing that DvD and Blu-Ray sales of the second season will make a big impact on decision-makers, Legend of the Seeker fans are also organizing online and offline campaigns to introduce new viewers to the show. Ideas include setting up viewing parties at science fiction conventions, churches, community centers, libraries, and schools. Fans are also asking their local libraries to add Legend of the Seeker to their video collections.

Great stuff! I love seeing articles like this, it makes me know that others are seeing all our efforts and is great for bringing Seeker more visibility.

Morning devotions

Focusing on his beautiful face today..

He's so lovely it can do dangerous things to a girls equilibrium. Sigh. Look at that jawline and tell me that's not perfection.

Wednesday 22 September 2010

Villains - Mistress Denna

I must admit that Denna is perhaps my favourite of the Seeker villains. She's just so utterly ruthless and totally loyal at the same time.

We're first introduced to 'Mistress' Denna is Season 1 when she is called up on to capture and train Richard. She is our first glimpse of a Mord'Sith..

And what a glimpse! I remember thinking what a fabulous outfit, all that skin tight leather and corsetry.

We start to realise what her character is like when she laughingly shrugs off Richard's attempt to fight her with the Sword. Because of course, magic doesn't work on a Mord'Sith. That was a nice twist..

Once Richard is captured we begin to understand exactly what 'training' is. Torture by agiel, a powerful magic that causes immense pain. Mord'Sith take pleaure in causing pain, you can see the satisfied little smile on Denna's face as she takes her agiel to Richard. The sound of the magic and his screams had me grimacing and gritting my teeth for him..

No-one has ever resisted being broken by Mord'Sith. When Kahlan comes in and tries to rescue Richard, Denna brings him out on a chain, cowering and shivering like an abused puppy.
She demonstrates her power over him by making him use the agiel on the woman she knows he loves..

Yet Richard, being the unusual man he is, manages to shake Denna's hold over him at the last minute when she tries to make him stab Kahlan. Instead he stabs Denna instead, leaving her to bleed to death on the floor.

But when she is revived by a fellow Mord'Sith we know that's not the last we'll see of Denna.

And despite her ruthless character and treatment of Richard and of Kahlan, I couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for her when we see her next..

Strung up, bruised and beaten, yet still loyal to the man subjecting her to it.
That compassion soon wore off however when Denna goes after Richard's longlost sister. And we see her true evil side when she kills his mother.

Despite this, when she fails to carry out Darken Rahl's orders again, Richard refuses to kill her, instead telling her to flee. Not sure how many of us would have done the same thing.

But if you thought that was the last you'd see of Denna, you were wrong. In season 2 she crops up again. As a brothel owner. She's abandoned the leathers and the signature long plait..

She fits the role well.
Except she's got her eyes on a much bigger prize and this time it involves killing Richard. And bringing a broken puppet soul into his body to rule D'Hara..

You have to hand it her, the woman's got balls. Her plan is foiled though and so she kidnaps Zedd and forces him to fake their deaths to escape..

The canny Zedd manages to let Kahlan and Cara know his whereabouts and they rush to rescue him. They arrive and Cara shoots Denna with an arrow, just as she's starting to question her lifestyle. She falls to her death from the clifftop.

So ends the story of Denna. A survivor till the end. I can't help but wonder if she would have changed her life if she hadn't died first.

Morning devotions

Richard in hero mode...

I really like this shot. He looks like he's struggling to save something and we all love a hero!

People's Choice Awards

From Laura of the SOS team:

For the first time People's magazine is letting fans weigh in on the new categories in movies, television and music for the People's Choice Awards 2011.

Right now, they're letting fans vote on "categories", not on people, so it's our chance to have a "fantasy hero" as a new category.
After October 18th, they'll let us weigh in on "nominees."

This may be a golden opportunity to get 'Legend of the Seeker' and Cast & Crew on mainstream media.

To vote, go to: http://www.peopleschoice.com/pca/categories/vote.jsp?pollId=300002

Once you get to the 2nd screen "Television Category": click on "Others" and enter "Favorite Fantasy Hero"

After October 18th, we'll be able to weigh in on the nominees as well.

***Multiple votes are allowed, so NALU all the way with "People's Choice!!"***

This is a great way to raise the profile of LotS, so please Seekers, click the link and let's make 'Favourite Fantasy Hero' a reality!

Beauty

Another creation from Seekerbaby. This one was so beautiful that I just had to post it..

Isn't it lovely? So evocative. I really want to see this on the show now!

If this doesn't make you want to fight to Save Our Seeker, you have no soul. Thanks Seekerbaby, really love your stuff

New campaign idea - Now more than ever!

Those productive peeps over at the LotS forums have been beavering away coming up with new and interesting campaign ideas. This one takes it's cue from the Pass it on campaign - 'Save Our Seeker because...'

But, instead of writing your reason why and videoing it, we're asking you to put it on a photo instead! Nothing grabs peoples attention like a good visual. Especially when it's a visual of the beautiful Seeker cast or countryside.

No photoshopping skills? Don't worries, the inexhaustive Dragonfly has posted some she made herself for you to use. Here are a couple, ok three, of my favourites:

Twitchange - Bid for Bridget

Our amazing Mother Confessor is taking part in the Twitchange auction to build a home for disabled orphans in Haiti.

The auction is through Twitter and is offering - a follow back, a shout out and a retweet from all the participants.

Yesterday Bridget upped the ante by offering in addition: a 30 minute Skype date or phone call AND

if the winning bid is over $2500, one of Bridget's own Seeker scripts with all her handwritten notes on!

How amazing is that! Seeker fans have gone crazy over this fabulous prize and I must admit I'm a little excited too. Now to rob that bank...

Just kidding. As much as I love B and would adore something like that $2500 is a little, ok a lot, out of my price range.

Besides, I'd rather have something like that to auction off on my own site to raise money for MS research. Shameless plug I know but it's a cause that is close to my heart.

So Seekers, if you want these goodies from Bridget get bidding!

Heartbreaking moments

TIme for another heartbreaking moment I think. The sacrifice of Shar. This one needs a bit of a montage to show it's full effect:

My heart jumped when the brave nightwisp jumped up and sacrificed herself to save Richard from the arrow.

Her light that once shone so brightly is almost extinguished. This shot made my heartbreak. To give that kind of sacrifice must have taken so much courage and we have to see her fade.

But the tears really flowed when Kahlan says a prayer and sets her tiny form adrift on the river.
'May the spirits light your way through the land of the shadow, to the halls of eternal peace'
Sob.

Goodbye brave Shar, we'll remember you always.
I'm actually tearing up as I write this. A truly heartbreaking moment.

Missing Cara!

The last couple of days I've posted about Richard, Kahlan and Bruce. Now there's definitely someone missing from the line up.
And here she is!

I may well have used this shot before but I don't care because she looks awesome in it.
Oh Cara we miss you and your sexy leathers, your brilliant facial expressions and your ascerbic wit. Please come back to us soon.

A bit of romance

For those of you missing Richard and Kahlan's epic romance here's a beautiful creation from @GoldenAce to help fill that gap.

Friday 17 September 2010

The image of Kahlan

I thought it was about time I posted about Kahlan and the fabulousness that are her outfits.

When we first encounter Kahlan in Season 1 she is wearing her signature outfit, the white dress.
Made from silk velvet with flowing sleeves this is the look she is known for throughout season 1. When she wears this she is marked for what she is: a Confessor.
The white dress is a symbol of her power and authority

Love this outfit.

Her second look is the travelling dress which she sports from episode 2. This is the dress she wears if she wants to go incognito

Love this dress too. Especially the wide leather belt.

The next outfit isn't really a 'look' but she looks so amazing that it had to mentioned. Kahlan as a Mord'Sith! Many heart were set aflutter when she wore this in the episode Sacrifice.

And the last and final - so far;) - outfit; the Season 2 dark leather dress! The only explanation we have for the sudden change of outfit part way through the season is that of practical reasons. The white ones got so dirty they were going through them too much!

Did we mind? Hell no. Kahlan rocks the new outfit. It's a darker, more sensuous look that would seem to mark her move towards being more of a warrior, sworn to her Seeker. It also makes a nice complement to Cara's leathers.
Even that could signify more, that as the two women become closer, some of themselves rub off on the other. Cara becomes more than just a Mord'Sith, while Kahlan becomes more of the warrior. A little harder than she was in Season 1.

And to end, I feel I would be remiss if I didn't feature what is absolutely my favourite part of all Kahlan's outfits - the corset! In fact it is so amazing that I feel it should be capitalised. The Corset.

Sigh. What wouldn't I give to look that good in everything I wear.

So Seeker fans, which look is YOUR favourite?

Happy Birthday Bruce!

On honour of our favourite wizard's 65th Birthday, here are a few of my favourite pics of him

Happy Birthday Bruce, your Seeker fans adore you and hope you have a wonderful day!

Morning devotions

It's Friday, hurrah! Here's today's offering:

Got to love a hard working man. Especially when he looks like that!

Thursday 16 September 2010

Zedd lovin

A bit of love for our favourite young wizard

Love the cheeky grin on his face, you just know he's planning mischief!

Reason we fight - Richard and Kahlan

I adore this pic. I love anything to do with dancing, especially the formal kind, but there's something special about this.
The dance is simple yet seductive and their chemistry sizzles as they stare into each others eyes.
Sigh, we need them back!

Abs and arms and hands, what more can I say?

Could we buy LotS?

A few people have asked if we could raise the money to buy LotS ourselves. We don't know much about the ins and outs of buying/ producing (would be awesome if someone could let us know) but we thought it was an interesting idea.
We've set up a Facebook page to keep a track of how much people would be willing to donate to buy the show.

Please join in and let us know how much YOU would be willing to donate. Anyone with know how into the differences between buying the rights, producing etc could start a discussion so we get more info.

If you don't have FB then you can say the amount here and we'll add it to the tally. And please spread the word to everyone you know! This might just be a pipe dream but it would still be interesting to know how much we could raise and could also be used in our letters to the networks

Find the FB page here
If you don't have facebook but would be willing to contribute please write the amount in the comment box. Thanks!

*NOTE - we are NOT asking people to donate anything. Just to say how much you would if it were possible for us to buy the show.

New campaign idea - Unhappy Heroes!

A few fans over at the LotS forums have been coming up with some ideas for the campaign. The latest one is great - Unhappy Heroes!
The idea is to send pictures of our heroes in distress to the folks at Disney. Seeker fan Dragonfly is brilliant at coming up with pictures and she is happy for fans to use her work. Here's a couple of my favourites:

Feel free to use these,or you can make your own!

"I must ask that you please refrain from using vulgar language or being accusatory. Those will hit the trash can first. Just be creative and have fun with it! Get involved. If you’ve just been lurking, give it a try. If you’ve strayed away from the forum, come back! You’re always welcome home.

The addresses are:
Anne Sweeney
Disney/ABC Domestic Television
500 S Buena Vista St
Burbank, CA 91521

Paul Lee
Disney/ABC Domestic Television
500 S Buena Vista St
Burbank, CA 91521

Janice Marinelli
Disney/ABC Domestic Television
500 S Buena Vista St
Burbank, CA 91521

The mailing dates are as follows:

Outside the US-Sept 17th
US and Canada-Sept 24th

Remember these letters go to Disney/ABC. We also ask that you continue to send your letters to the networks listed in the JBC for this week. We are not in competition with the JBC."

This is another great way for fans to get involved and feel that they are doing something. And the staggered dates will mean the letters have a good chance of all getting to their destination at the same time for maximum impact.
So let's get sending and make the execs at Disney sit up and notice us!

Bridget rocks the funny

Love this one from Seekerbaby

Bridget is so good at the serious and emotional, but this shows she's just as good at the funny as well!

Heartbreaking moments

Heartbreaking moment #2. You can't help but feel sorry for Richard in the first episode of LotS.
Not only does he get beaten up by a bunch of D'Harans and then have a knife to his throat by Kahlan but then he gets bitten by a poisonous plant, sent to see a man he thinks is crazy, nearly dies and is then told he is the Seeker and is destined to kill someone. That would be enough for anyone to deal with.
He takes off home, back to the one man who has always been there for him, whose identity is now called into question. Only to find him stabbed.

How heartbreaking for Richard to deal with all that then come home to find his father fatally stabbed. I felt so sorry for him, cradling his dying father in his arms.

Legend of the Seeker does a great job at showing real human emotion and pulling at the heartstrings. This is why we love it so and why we will fight to save it!

Still hot and heroic despite being injured and dripping blood. He really is a hero!
